Wasia Project have just released a new soul-wrenching track, "Whale Call"

On "Whale Call," the latest single from their forthcoming debut album Nocturne, sibling duo Olivia Hardy and Will Gao once again prove that Wasia Project have carved out a sound entirely their own.

The track was born from fragments of a voice memo Olivia Hardy recorded when she was just 15 years old. Built around delicate piano, hushed vocals, and sweeping, cinematic arrangements, "Whale Call" unfolds with a quiet intensity. As always, Wasia Project's new track feels almost otherworldly. It drifts between dream and memory, wrapping heartbreak in layers of ghostly ambience in a way only the duo can. At its heart, "Whale Call" explores the pain of watching someone you love drift away and change.

It's no surprise that "Whale Call" was chosen for Heartstopper Forever, the Netflix film based on Alice Oseman's graphic novel, continuing the band's long-standing musical relationship with the franchise. Their song "Ur So Pretty" was featured in the second season, while "My Vine" appeared in the third. The track's emotional weight makes its inclusion in the film feel especially fitting, perfectly capturing the bittersweet experience of growing up, letting go, and loving someone through change. The film also sees Will Gao return as Tao Xu once again.

If "Whale Call" is any indication of what's to come, Nocturne, set to be released on September 18th, is shaping up to be an unforgettable debut.
